"The Crosses of Dinka
Christians" is the recently produced
one-hour videotaped lecture presented by the
late Rev. Dr. Marc R. Nikkel in 1996.
In this DVD
video Nikkel demonstrates the symbolic Dinka (Jieng)
Crosses and explores the rich hymnody, faith and suffering of the
Dinka Christians of the Sudan with passion and insight.
Marc Nikkel was the first
Episcopal missionary appointee to the Sudan, where he served
from 1981 until his death in 2000. Author, theologian,
artist, poet, Dinka scholar and translator, Nikkel
was esteemed as the "apostle" to the persecuted Sudanese
Christians and as the "one-man theological
seminary" in war ravaged Southern Sudan.
Closing tributes to Nikkel are given
by Bishop Nathaniel Garang and the Rev. Peter Yuang
Mac of the Diocese of Bor, Sudan. Garang worked
closely with Nikkel for several years in the ministry, including
co-founding Kakuma Refuge Camp in Northern Kenya, which now has
over 70,000 refugees from various tribes. Click on your format of choice to view a short demo: Flash WMV MOV
